Confession #12 - Wordsearches

WORDSEARCHES!

Confession: I love wordsearches.

There is something about methodically searching for a specific letter, next to another letter, to make a word, that just scratches that itch I have to be slightly OCD.

Part of my confession - I am NOT a mathy person.

Correction: I am horrible at math. Ok, not horrible, but it is not my forte.

I used to bring wordsearches to Algebra in high school, and tear out pages, and hand them to the students around me, and we would have one of the kids time us, and we would wordsearch race to the finish - to see who could find all the words the fastest.

I liked this game because I won every time.

OCD! Maybe a little. I'm very organized. Does that count?

Yes, wordsearches.

How I love wordsearches.

Confession #8 - Spongebob Squarepants

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!

Mildly having ruled almost a decade of my life, I have a confession to make about this tiny, mildly obnoxious sea sponge.

Confession: Spongebob Squarepants will ALWAYS remind me of my sister, Lauryn, and afternoons after school. High school, I mean.

Ah yes, things we hide in school. What we are "too cool" for.

When I was 8 or 9, I hid that I liked Power Rangers and Barney. When I was 14, I used to watch The Magic School Bus.

When I was 18 and 19, I watched Spongebob. With Lauryn. With an after school snack. And jokes. Lots of jokes. And milk-out-your-nose laughter.

Sometimes after swim practice, we would spend some time outside, or have a snack in a giant refrigerator box and watch Spongebob through little holes in the side.

Whatever the case, it will always remind me of Lauryn, because we laughed SO hard, and have so many inside jokes that happened around those after-school-Spongebob-situations.

Good times!

The following is a barrage of images that involve inside jokes only.

Sorry, outsiders.

:o)

The best of two worlds! The best of two worlds!!

Ner ner ner ner ner ner ner!

Spongebob.

More than my son's once-obsession.

Confession #1 - I Miss Las Vegas

Ah, Sunny Spectacular Las Vegas.
Here lies a confession.

I miss Las Vegas.
Don't get me wrong! I mean, I'm glad I left, for moral reasons and avenues unexplored...
But I do miss a few things about it.

(By the way, if I WAS going to be a showgirl I would totally have gone the Esther Williams path instead. At least some of her outfits are borderline modest. Also colorful and shimmery.)

How about having having one wardrobe? - Summer. And that meant that your main dress piece was usually:

A swimsuit.

No worries, you can layer it if you have to go to the grocery store. Shorts, and a wispy American Eagle tee will have you covered. Don't forget your flip flops.

Although after two kids, I'm kindof glad I live somewhere with layering as a requirement. Thank you, winter sweaters, for hiding that Christmas cake.

I miss my high school years. I feel old. SO old. And I never knew I would look back and miss knowing everyone, who they were and what they liked, and where we would go, and the memories we shared - and look where we were now and have none of that for most of them!

I miss the randomness that comes with living in a warm place. I don't know what it is about Las Vegas, but there was always some discovery around the corner - a giant mud pit at a construction site, a hill to go iceblocking on, buildings to explore.

Here, I am playing guitar in a refrigerator box after swim practice, wearing a Metallica tshirt.

Don't forget your perma-tan you get when you move to Las Vegas.

Ah, teenage years.

Las Vegas.

Freedom, memories, one wardrobe.
